Drawing a Fire Spell Seal

Step 1


Create a new file (Ctrl+N) and use the following settings.



Step 2


Create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+N) and fill it in black.



Step 3


Use the seal provided or draw your own. Open the image in Photoshop in a new document. Press M to use the Rectangular Marquee Tool then select the picture. Press Ctrl+C to copy the picture.




Step 4


Go back to the first document we created and press Ctrl+V to paste the seal. Name this layer “base”, then order the layers as shown.



Step 5


With the top layer selected, go to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds.



Step 6


Repeat the filter about 10-15 times by pressinng Ctrl+F. Then press Ctrl+I invert the colors. Your result should look like:



Step 7


Change the layer style to Color Dodge.



Step 8


Select the “base” layer and create a Hue/Saturation layer by going to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation... . Use the following settings:




Step 9


Set a Gaussian Blur on the “base” layer by going to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur... . Use the following settings:

To touch up, use a Brush and set the color to white (#FFFFFF) with 15% Opacity. Draw on the “base” layer until you get the desired result.





You can experiement with different settings to draw seals for different spells.

i like your tutorial but I have on little question, what are the precise settings for your brush? It's looks faded and I can't remember how to do it. Thanks you very much.
